MPSJ officer sprayed with corrosive liquid by man furious over clamped car

KUALA LUMPUR: A Subang Jaya municipal council (MPSJ) enforcement officer was sprayed in the face with an unidentified corrosive liquid by a man incensed that his illegally-parked car had been clamped.

In the 12.40pm incident on Wednesday, the officer had spotted a white Honda City parked outside of a designated lot in front of a restaurant at Jalan Puteri 1/4 in Bandar Puteri, Puchong.

While the officer and his colleague were clamping one of the vehicle’s wheels, the car’s owner and his wife burst onto the scene, berating the officer and acting aggressively.

In the midst of the harangue, the man sprayed an unidentified liquid in the officer’s face before he and his wife fled.

“The officer felt irritation in his eyes. His vision became blurry. And he had difficulty breathing,” Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said in a statement.

The couple is still at large.

“The couple is urged to surrender at the nearest police station and cooperate with the police,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by using a dangerous weapon; and Section 353 of the same act for using criminal force to obstruct a public servant from carrying out their duties.
