5 years jail for man who broke into Federal Court judge's house

KUALA LUMPUR: A 22-year-old man was sentenced to five years' jail by the Sessions Court today for breaking into the house of a Federal Court judge near Wangsa Maju two months ago.

Judge Shamsudin Abdullah meted out the maximum sentence against Ahmad Norfais Ishak after he pleaded guilty.

Ahmad, a lorry conductor, broke into the house via a toilet window and stole a laptop, cameras, toy cars and shoes belonging to Datuk Balia Yusuf Wahi worth a total of RM11,300.

He committed the offence at Jalan Kent 4, Wangsa Maju about 6.10am on Oct 22.

The father of three who was represented by lawyer Ernie Ahmad pleaded for a lenient sentence saying that he was the sole breadwinner for his family.

“My client is remorseful and promises not to repeat the ofence,” she said.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurakmal Farhan Aziz pressed for a deterrent sentence.

“The case involves public interest and the accused has committed a serious crime,” he said.

Shamsudin ordered the jail sentence to run from the date of arrest on Oct 23.
