Police arrest 6 in connection with Shah Alam home robbery

SHAH ALAM: Six men including an Indonesian were arrested for allegedly posing as policemen to rob a family of four at a gated and guarded neighbourhood in Section 7 here on Monday.

The suspects, in their 20s and 30s, were picked up from Sungai Buloh and Segambut within 24 hours after the incident.

Selangor police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the arrest was made possible through information gathered and further police investigation.

“The first arrest was made in Kampung Paya Jaras. The man is suspected to be directly involved in the case.

“This was followed by the arrest of four local men and an Indonesian citizen in Segambut, which took place at around 4am, this morning,” he told reporters at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters here today after attending the state contingent Maulidur Rasul celebration.

Mazlan said although the police considered the case to be successfully solved, they are still tracking two more individuals to assist with investigations.

“They have been identified as Rizal Zee Alias, 46, and Mohd Saufi Hashim, 33. Those with information on the two are requested to come forward,” he said, adding that the case has been classified under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed and gang robbery.

It was reported that three men had robbed a family of four. They drove off with the family’s Honda Insight and also grabbed handphones, laptops and jewellery.

The men, clad in civilian clothing, had identified themselves as policemen from the Selangor police headquarters.

They had ordered the family to open the door on the pretext of searching for a suspect.

The incident took place at 4.50am.

Mazlan said they were not carrying any badges or identification to prove they were policemen and did not have a search warrant.
