Family's month-long search for missing father ends in sadness

SEREMBAN: After 30 days of searching, a family's nightmare became true when their missing 65-year-old father was found dead yesterday.

His decomposed body was found in a bush at at 4.30pm at Jalan Bukit Tembok, near Taman AST here.

It was discovered by a resident who was looking for banana leaves in the area.

District deputy police chief Superintendent Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the resident alerted the police which immediately sent a team to the scene.

He said further investigations would be conducted to ascertain the cause of death after the victim was reported missing on Nov 6.

"An investigation at the scene has found the victim with his belongings including an umbrella, a mobile phone charger, a mobile phone and a wallet.

"Early investigations do not show any foul play. The victim's eldest son has come foward and confirmed that the body is his father’s," he said.

Sulizmie Affendy said the victim had been suffering from hypertension and receiving treatment at Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital (TJH), here.

"The body has been taken to TJH for further checks and the case is classified as sudden death," he said.
