Carpenter charged with smuggling Myanmar immigrants into Kelantan

PASIR MAS: A 37-year-old carpenter was charged at the sessions court here on Sunday with smuggling four Myanmar into the country on Dec 12.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused, Radzi Halim, after the charge was read to him before the court's senior registrar Rashid Mustafa.

Radzi, who is from Kok Lanas in Kota Baru, is alleged to have smuggled the four – Naing Aung, Myo Elwin, Myo Min Lwin and Soe Hwin at the Malaysian Border Security Agency’s (Aksem) roadblock at Simpang Empat Salam, near Rantau Panjang.

He is alleged to have committed the offence at 7.30pm on Dec 12, and is charged under Section 24A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) Act 2007.

Rashid set Tuesday for case mention.
