Court fixes Feb 11 for Geng Pak Su case management

ALOR STAR: The High Court here has fixed Feb 11 for case management of an organised crime case involving 30 suspected members of Geng Pak Su.

High Court deputy registar Mohd Izham Ali set the new date after the case was brought up for case management today.

He said the new date is to allow 17 of the accused to appoint lawyers to represent them in the trial and for the handing over of case documents to the lawyers.

In the dock was Johari Ariffin, 36, who is alleged to be the leader of the gang and his 29 henchmen.

The men are; Rosidi Aziz, 36; Norazif Ahmad 38; Shahadan Salim, 39; Fairus Hafiz Mohd Yusoff, 25; M. Murugan, 37; Rosli Ariffin, 41; Sariman Idris, 43; Mohd Norhizam Zamzuri, 30; Faizol Sobri Romli, 30; Amirul Ashraf Hussain, 21; Muhamad Ashraf Aziz, 24; Faizal Azlyshah Romli, 34; Aziz Othman, 57; Muhamad Asrun Amir Hussain, 24; Muhammad Luqman Hakim Zainal, 19; Nur Arif Norzaidi, 20; Muhamad Amir Daud, 23; Norhasrul Izwan Noraini, 34; Joni Yakub, 38; Zamzuri Aziz, 23; Shamsol Long, 46; Muhammad Khairul Azhar Ghazali, 22; and Mohamad Rozaidi Sabu, 27.

Also in the dock were Jamal Muhamad Syafian Jamaludin, 25; Mazlan Ahmad, 49; Akmal Firdaus Ahmad, 23; Mohd Shafiz Ibrahim, 30; Mohd Mizan Ismail, 40 and Mohd Azhar Muei, 21.

All of them were alleged to be members of the gang between Jan 1, 2015 and last year.

The accused were charged under Section 130V (1) of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years if convicted.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Fadzlan Mohd Noor prosecuted while some of the accused were represented by lawyers Adi Zulkarnain and G. Ravishankar.
