Police cripple 'Geng Njok' in Bintulu

KUCHING: The police have smashed a gang of four thieves linked to a series of six housebreaking incidents in the Bintulu Division.

The individuals, in their early 20s, and known as 'Geng Njok', were nabbed on Feb 19 during an operation code-named 'Ops Pintu', Bintulu district police chief Superintendent Nixon Joshua said in a statement today.

He said the police recovered RM33,754 worth of stolen goods from the suspects, mainly jewellery and two tablet devices.

Three of the gang members tested positive for drug use during urine tests and had previous records of housebreaking, he said.

Nixon elaborated on the group's typical modus operandi, which involved the use of screwdrivers, pliers or home-made steel hooks to prise open door locks.– BERNAMA
