SETIU: A 37-year-old man who was high on drugs was detained suspected of distributing drugs near Kampung Telaga Papan, near Permaisuri, last Sunday.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Zulkifli Mat Deris said the suspect from Kampung Gong Ubi Keling in Kampung Raja was taken to the Kampung Raja police station where he tested positive for methamphetamine.
Zulkifli said a team of narcotic policemen raided the rented house in Kampung Telaga Papan following observations and a public tip-off in the 4.30pm incident.
"My men managed to overpower him after a scuffle behind the house when he tried to escape the raiding party," he said today.
He said the team had seized a parcel wrapped with a piece of newspaper comprising three plastic packets containing 600 WY pills weighing 60 grammes.
"Further investigations led the suspect to a gold colour Honda Odyssey which had a suspicious chassis number and a fake road tax," he said.
He said the suspect was being held at the Setiu police station lock-up for further probe under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for drug trafficking.
