Deputy director of state department among four remanded for MACC graft probe

KOTA KINABALU: Four people including a deputy director of a state department has been remanded for a week in connection with graft investigation over railway projects in Sabah.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus granted the remand which will expire on Jan 28.

The accused are 58-year-old deputy director, assistant engineers, aged 37 and 39, and a 42-year-old company director.

All were arrested yesterday at their houses here between noon and before midnight.

During the arrests, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (Macc) found substantial money and seized several vehicles.

Several accounts have also been frozen.

The four, who are unrepresented, are remanded to investigate over projects between 2012 and 2017.

Prosecuting officer Mohd Baliq Basirudin appeared for the commission.
