GEORGE TOWN: Police are looking for a woman to facilitate investigations into the instant durian coffee mixture case, which resulted in the hospitalisation of seven people.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar urged the woman, believed to be in her 40s, to come forward to have her statement recorded.

“If we are able to get a hold of her, we believe she will shed light into our investigation.

“The woman was seen hanging around at a food court in Jelutong, where she had allgedly placed the durian coffee packets for patrons to take,” he told newsmen here today.

Anuar said police were also looking for a teenage boy, a victim of the instant coffee drink, to have his statement taken to assist in the investigation.

Meanwhile, Anuar said the blood and urine test results of two Nepalese men, who were hospitalised after consuming the coffee, would be made known this afternoon.

"For now, initial test showed there was a foreign substance inside the coffee, believed to be methamphetamine drug.

"However, we are still waiting for the complete report from the Chemistry Department to ascertain the content of the foreign substance," he added.

Since Jan 27 until last Saturday, a total of seven people, including the two Nepalese men, were hospitalised after consuming the coffee, which was found to contain a certain type of drug.

A total of five police reports had been lodged.

Police have not ruled out sabotage as a motive for the incidents.
