GEORGE TOWN: Videos of a female security guard being beaten up by three men outside a condominium in Bandar Baru Air Itam, on the eve of Chinese New Year, have gone viral.
It was learnt that in the 8.30pm incident, the woman had refused to allow three visitors, who did not have the access card, from entering the building.
The video showed the visitors in a car trying to enter the condominium but a quarrel later broke out between the men and the security guard.
A netizen, identified as Jeffrey Chua, posted the video on Facebook on the same day. He said the visitors were angry on being denied entry and showed obscene gestures and shouted at her.
He said she was then beaten up by the men, one of them was believed to be a resident.
It was learnt that passersby managed to diffused the situation and a police report has been lodged on the incident.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said one of the men who attacked the woman is the son a resident there.
“We have detained two men who were involved in the incident for questioning. They were released later after both parties agreed to solve the matter between themselves.
“The report has also been retracted. We have also learnt that the victim has been compensated for the injuries sustained.” he said in a statement today.
