Filipino who used MyKad another for work jailed 30 months

KOTA KINABALU: A Filipino who use a MyKad that belonged to someone else was jailed 30 months here.

Aidil Abdul Ruji, 20, had used the MyKad for work the last four years.

The Filipino who obtained the document through a relative in Semporna pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Regulation 25(1)(o) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 ( Amendment 2007) for unauthorised use of documents belonging to others.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus in handing down the punishment also ordered Aidil to be deported after serving his sentence from the date of his arrest in Sook, Keningau on April 5.

Prosecuting officer Mohammad Faizal Tahir, who represented National Registration Department, told the court Aidil had used the document which belonged to one Abdul Hakim Yussop.

“He has been using the MyKad for four years for the purpose of employment.

“His action has posed threat to national security and such sentence will serve a reminder for people to take good care of their MyKad,” added Faizal.

Aidil, who was unrepresented, had earlier apologised and requested to be sent back to his country as soon as possible.
