Penang cops nab another suspect over assault of Briton

GEORGE TOWN: Police have detained another suspect early yesterday to facilitate investigations into the assault on a British tourist in Jalan Penang here.

The 30-year-old man was remanded until Saturday to determine the motive of the assault which left the foreigner seriously injured but in a stable condition.

North East sistrict police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said the police were in the midst of tracking down several others in connection with the case.

“So far, we have identified two of the suspect’s friends,” he said.

In the 4.10am incident, the victim was rendered senseless following an assault by a group of men in front of a restaurant in Jalan Penang here.

Subsequently, the police nabbed a 38-year-old man and the suspect was remanded until Thursday. -- BERNAMA
