GEORGE TOWN: Police have detained a man to assist in the investigation into a hidden camera discovered in a homestay in Jelutong, here.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab Hamid said the man, in his 20s, was arrested in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon following a tip-off and surveillance.

Police believed that the case has been solved with the arrest of the man.

"A four-day remand order for the suspect has been obtained," Razlam said this evening.

It is learnt that the man is a friend of the woman who had lodged the police report, and had stayed at the same homestay with several other friends.

Yesterday, a woman lodged a report after discovering a camera hidden inside the bathroom of her homestay in Jelutong.

She immediately removed the camera and made a complaint to the owner of the homestay before lodging a report.

Earlier today, it was reported that police were tracking down a man in connection to the case. Checks then revealed that that the hidden camera was connected to the man's cellphone.
