Jamal Yunos remanded for three days over alleged gun photos

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Sungai Besar division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos has been remanded for three days to assist an investigation into photos which allegedly depict him displaying a firearm in a threatening manner.

The remand order, which will end on Friday, was issued by magistrate Mohd Isa Mohd Nor to facilitate a probe under Section 34 of the Arms Act 1960.

The 47-year-old was picked up at a private hospital on Jalan Memanda, Ampang at 1.15pm yesterday by the Selangor Anti-Vice, Gaming and Secret Societies Division (D7).

The arrest was made after a police report was lodged by a Kuala Langat Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) member on May 12.

The complainant claimed to have seen several photos of Jamal posing with a gun on his hip, believed to be in a bid to scare members of the public.

In the report, the complainant asked police to investigate the matter and revoke Jamal’s firearm license before anything unwanted occurs.
