Two left unconscious after assaulted by 10

PENAMPANG: Two men were severely injured when they were assaulted by more than 10 others armed with a samurai sword and plastic chair at a restaurant at Penampang Baru here this morning.

The two victims aged 29 and 31 who suffered injuries on the head and bruises on the body are now receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth hospital here.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Haris Ibrahim said during the 3am incident, the duo were dining with another friend at a restaurant located next to an entertainment outlet.

“While eating, they were approached by a group of 10 people led by a man known as ‘Achok’ which led to a quarrel and the assault.

“One of the victims was assaulted by the group with a plastic chair and the other had his head slashed with a samurai sword,”he said when contacted.

He said the two victims ended up in a pool of blood on the floor.

“After the incident, the group fled the scene while the victims were sent to Queen Elizabeth hospital for treatment.

“The case is being investigated and the cause of the fight is yet to be known as the victims are still unconscious,” he added.

The case was being investigated for rioting.
