Auxiliary police caught for alleged drug distribution no longer with IRB

PUTRAJAYA: An auxiliary police arrested with nine others for alleged drug distribution is no longer with the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).

The IRB issued a statement today to clear any possible confusion regarding the auxiliary police who was reported to be attached to a government agency based on an authority card that he had failed to return when he left the agency four years ago.

“The man is no longer with the IRB, effective March 21, 2014,” it said.

The former IRB auxiliary police was one of 10 drug syndicate members who were arrested during a raid in Ampang on July 21.

The 10 were alleged to have made an arrangement for about 150 kilogramme syabu to be smuggled into the country.

The drugs were believed to have been smuggled in from Myanmar to Thailand before coming through the Malaysian-Thai border.

It was also believed that the syabu worth about RM7 million here could possibly have been meant to be smuggled later into Indonesia where the price would triple.

As a government agency that emphasises on the importance of integrity, the IRB said it would not hesitate to take action against its officers for any misconduct, adding it would give its full cooperation to the relevant authorities in investigations should the need arise.
