KOTA KINABALU: A single mother was not only robbed off her cash and cellphone, but allegedly raped in a bush along Jalan Sulaiman near a fastfood outlet, here, two days ago.
In the incident which took place at about 1am, the 38-year-old victim was on her way home, not far from where the crime happened.
According to a source, prior to the incident, she was dropped off at Jalan Sulaiman by a friend and was making her way home on foot, alone, when a man on a motorcycle called out to her.
The source informed that the victim ignored the stranger.
"Not long after that, the man returned with three others, also on motorcycles, they stopped the victim and took her to the bushes.
"The victim tried to fight them off but one of the suspects pointed a knife to her neck and asked her to keep quiet," the source said, adding that one of the suspects then raped her while another suspect held her down and watched.
"The victim was powerless and all the suspects then ran from the location with her bag containing important documents, cash and cellphone," the source informed.
Kota Kinabalu district police chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji when contacted confirmed the incident and said investigation was underway.
"Police are tracking down the suspects involved in the crime," he said.
