Man fined RM10,000, jailed 6 months jail for possessing catch from fish bombing

KOTA KINABALU: A local man was fined RM10,000 and jailed six months for being in possession of 60 kilogrammes of fish believed to have been caught with explosives in Kudat earlier this month.

Undusin Kamlun, 45, who was unrepresented, pleaded guilty before district Sessions Court judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad today.

Ainul ordered the jail sentence to begin today.

Undusin committed the offence along Kampung Tinangol road, Matunggong, at 4.30 am on Aug 12. The catch was found inside the Isuzu Invader he was driving.

According to the facts, a team of Kudat district police which was conducting Op Pensura/ Op Terancang stopped the vehicle to check and found a fresh catch of 15 types of fish believed to have been caught using explosives.

The accused was charged under Section 26 (1) (c) of the Fisheries Act 1985.

Another local man who was caught for a similar offence pleaded not guilty.

Ainul set Sept 26 for case management for Mansor Ukok, 53, while trial dates were set on Jan 13 and 14.

Bail was set at RM3,000 with one local surety. Mansor was represented by lawyer Sazalye Donol.

Mansor was charged with possessing 15 types of fish believed to have been caught using explosives, inside a Toyota Hilux Vigo he was driving along Kampung Tinangol road at 4.15pm on Aug 12.
