Four plead not guilty to raping 10-yr-old girl

KANGAR: An unemployed man and three teenage boys have been charged with raping an underage girl at the Sessions Court here today.

The accused, Muhammad Adam Izzudin Asri, 20 and the three teens, all aged 15, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them before Judge Hakim Johari Hassan.

According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl at a house in Arau between 3am and 6am on Sept 2.

All the accused were charged under Section 375B of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 30-years imprisonment upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Farhan Aliff Ahmad prosecuted while the accused were represented by attorney Syed Muhammad Anwar Syed Lokman Hakim.

The judge set bail at RM10,000 for Muhammad Adam and RM7,000 for the rest of the accused with one surety.

The court fixed Oct 23 for remention of the case.

The New Straits Times Press previously reported that four individuals were arrested by police on suspicion of raping a minor at a house in Arau.

Arau district police chief Superintendent Nanda Maarof had said the victim complained to her teacher, who informed her parents of the alleged incident.

The child had claimed the individuals took turns to rape her.
