Guard's actions foil robbery attempt at Bandar Sri Damansara bank [NSTTV]

PETALING JAYA: The brave actions of a security guard managed to foil a robbery attempt by four men believed to be foreigners when they grabbed hold of his pump-action shotgun in front of a bank in Bandar Sri Damansara, this morning.

The guard, one of four on duty, was transferring money from the bank into a security van when the robbers turned up.

He then grappled with the men who were believed to have then panicked and fled in a car, taking only the shotgun with them.

Deputy district police chief Superintendent Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmod said the security guard and his three colleagues had picked up cash from the bank in Jalan Tanjung SD 13/1 when the four robbers turned up in a Proton Waja.

“Two of them, who were wearing motorcycle helmets, approached the security guard and seized his weapon, which had three rounds in it.

“The guard then grappled with the robbers, one of whom also pointed what the guard described as a pistol towards him. The men then fled, taking the shotgun with them,” he said.

A 20-second video clip of the incident, believed to have been recorded by a camera located inside the van, has since gone viral on social media.

The clip shows a guard watching three of his colleagues placing money into the van. The other three were believed to have been inside the van when a man wearing a motorcycle helmet turns up in the frame.

The man then grabs the guard’s shotgun and a struggle ensued. This allowed one of the guard’s colleagues to quickly close the van door, ending the robbers’ hopes of grabbing hold of any cash.
