Datuk remanded for corruption investigations freed [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: A car sales broker with the title “Datuk” who was earlier remanded to assist in corruption investigations related to government projects worth millions of ringgit has been released today.

The man was remanded for six days from last Wednesday.

Magistrate Ahmad Afiq Hassan issued the release order after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) decided not to extend his remand.

Ahmad Afiq also set bail at RM50,000 with two sureties.

Sources said the Datuk was believed to have acted as proxy for a Member of Parliament who had been nabbed by the MACC recently.

He was also alleged to have acted as a runner in helping to transfer money received from construction companies.
