Man shot 3 times after buying cigs in Kota Damansara

PETALING JAYA: A man was seriously injured after he was shot three times by an unknown assailant at Persiaran Tropicana, Kota Damansara here this afternoon.

According to police, the 35-year-old victim was purchasing a packet of cigarettes at a convenience store when he was approached by the gunman at about 4.50pm.

"The victim was shot three times as he exited the store," said Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din today.

He said the victim was in stable condition and was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for treatment.

He added that the police are recording the victim's statement.

"We are still establishing the motive of the attack. Based on preliminary investigations, police believe the suspect was travelling in a white car.

"We urge members of the public with any information on the incident to contact the nearest police station immediately," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
