BUTTERWORTH: A labourer, who is also suspected drug addict, was charged the Sessions Court here today with sodomising a 22-year-old male on Oct 25.
The accused, M. Nadarajan, 47, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to him by a court interpreter before Judge Norhayati Mohammad Yunus.
According to the charge sheet, Nadarajan was arrested by police for a drug-related offence and was detained at a remand centre together with the victim.
Nadarajan was charged with committing the offence at Cell C2 of the National Anti-Drugs Agency's Remand Centre in Tasek Gelugor at about 12.05am on Oct 25.
He was charged under Section Section 377C of the Penal Code and faces imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Kamaliza Md Zain prosecuted while the accused was not represented in court.
The court allowed bail at RM15,000 and set Dec 6 for case mention.
