ALOR SETAR: A scrap metal collector was sent to 28 years in jail and 25 strokes of rotan after he pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here to three charges of raping and molesting his 12-year-old daughter in Pendang between September and October.
The 42-year-old accused pleaded guilty to all charges in two separate proceedings before Judge Juraidah Abbas and Judge Azman Abu Hassan.
In the first proceeding, the accused face two charges of raping his 12-year-old daughter at a house in Kampung Kedah, Mukim Guar Kepayang in Pendang on Sept 18 and end of October.
Juraidah sentenced the man to 20 years in jail and 10 strokes of rotan after finding him guilty under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code.
For the third charge, he was accused of performing an oral sex on his daughter at the same location in September.
Azman sentenced the accused to eight years in jail and five strokes of rotan after he was found guilty under Section 14(a) of Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Deputy public prosecutor Rehab Abdul Shukur prosecuted the case while the accused was not represented.
The accused, who has been divorced for 10 years, pleaded for a more lenient punishment because he has a disabled sister under his care.
The prosecution, however, asked for a just punishment due to the seriousness of the crime which left the victim traumatised for life.
The sentences were to run separately, beginning from the date he was arrested on Nov 2.
