Remand for babysitter's husband extended again (NSTTV)

KUALA LUMPUR: The remand order on a man who allegedly sexually and physically abused 11-month-old baby, Nur Muarzara Ulfa Muhammad Zainal or Zara, has been extended for another seven days.

This is the third time the remand order against the 36-year-old suspect, who is the husband of Nur Muazara's babysitter, is extended.

The seven-day extension which was granted by magistrate's court registrar Sharifah Fazilah Zulkifli begins tomorrow.

The suspect, a barber, is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Meanwhile, the remand order against the suspect's 28-year-old wife ended yesterday and has been extended until Sunday.

Nur Muazara was rushed to Serdang Hospital on Nov 7 after she allegedly choked on a piece of apple. The infant died at the hospital two days later.

A post-mortem revealed that Nur Muazara had been subjected to physical and sexual abuse. She had fractures on the skull and a torn hymen.

Police had informed Noraihan Ab Aziz, 22, the baby’s mother, that the man had been taking care of Nur Muazara since day one because he claimed that his wife was “slow.”

The case was initially investigated under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2002.
