Pickup truck driver in Seri Kembangan hit-and-run charged with murder

PETALING JAYA: The man behind the wheel of a pickup truck which mowed down patrons of a restaurant in Equine Park, Seri Kembangan last Sunday, has been charged with murder.

Wilsonresa Anak Dudom, 22, was charged at the Magistrates Court here with causing the death of Wong Sow Lin, 57, in front of Restoran Tar Chong, Jalan Equine 9B, Sri Kembangan, at 8.20pm on Nov 18.

Wilsonresa only nodded in agreement when the charge was read out to him via an interpreter in front of Magistrate Mohd Hafidzuddin Yusoff.

No plea was recorded from the accused, who remained silent and looked down throughout the entire proceeding.

Wilsonresa, who was not represented, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Alia Sumayyah Amran had asked the court to set a date for mention while awaiting the autopsy and forensic reports.

The court set Jan 8 for mention.

It was reported that the pickup truck, an Isuzu D-Max, had ploughed into a group of roadside diners. The driver also crashed into three other vehicles before fleeing the scene.

One woman died while four others were left injured. The incident was caught on CCTV.

The pickup truck was later found abandoned at Jalan Indah 1/22, Taman Universiti Indah, Seri Kembangan.
