Priest who allegedly beat his 10-year-old son to death remanded

KUALA LUMPUR: The 43-year-old priest, who allegedly beat his 10-year-old son to death in Kajang yesterday was remanded for seven days to facilitate investigation.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusof said the father-of-three would be remanded till Dec 13.

It was reported that the man was detained at 9.30am at Semenyih police station.

Police were alerted by medical officers at the Serdang Hospital on Wednesday night that a boy was brought to the hospital by his family members in an unconscious state.

The doctor who confirmed his death found physical injuries on his head, legs, arms and abdomen.

The boy’s identity was confirmed by his mother and siblings.

Post mortem later revealed that the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma to the body.

The victim, the second of three siblings, was left under the man’s care as the mother left home about two months ago.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
