Ex-manager charged with blackmailing woman with nude photographs

KUALA LUMPUR: A former manager of a production company was charged at the Ampang magistrate’s court today with blackmailing a woman into disseminating nude photographs of her unless she gave him RM1,000 or had sex with him four times a month.

Shaiful Azwira Abdul Jabbar, 44, pleaded not guilty to the offence before magistrate Haslinda A. Raof.

The father of eight was alleged to have threatened the 25-year-old victim who worked at a hotel to distribute nude photos of her.

He allegedly threatened the victim to give him RM1,000 or have sex with him four times a month.

Shaiful allegedly committed the offence at a location in Lambah Jaya Permai, here at 11pm on Dec 7.

The charge under Section 385 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail sentence of seven years or a fine or whipping or any of the two, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Raihanah Abd Razak did not offer bail saying that it was a non-bailable offence.

In pleading for minimum bail, the unrepresented accused said he needed to take care of his family and children.

“I do not work anymore and I have two wives and eight children to take care of,” he said.

The court allowed him RM6,000 bail with one surety and ordered him to stay away from witnesses and the victim.

Haslinda fixed Feb 15 for mention.
