YAN: A four-year-old girl and her younger brother were slashed to death by a man, who ran amok and barged into their house at Kampung Tengah, here, last night.
It was learnt that the suspect had initially gotten into an argument and attacked another individual before he barged into the victims’ home at 11pm.
All hell broke loose when the suspect found the girl and her one-year-old brother with their mother inside a room in the house.
The suspect, who was armed with a sharp object, attacked the three before leaving the house.
Kedah Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Al Atrash Wahid said the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident.
“Checks showed that the suspect has previous criminal records involving drug-related offences,” he said, adding that the case wass being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
It is learnt that the police will apply for a remand order against the suspect this morning to facilitate investigation into the case.
