Kulim man allegedly points meat cleaver at parents, threatens to 'katok' them

KULIM: A son allegedly pointed a meat cleaver at his parents after his mother asked him for some money.

The man has been detained at his family home in Taman Kenari, here, at 9.30pm yesterday.

"The suspect does not have any past criminal records and according to early investigation, he did not admit to being involved in the incident," Kulim district police chief Supt Ahmad Nasir Jaafar said when contacted.

The incident was said to have taken place at 8.30am yesterday in which the suspect, 26, had gotten angry when his mother asked for some money for expenses.

He then made his way to the kitchen where he took out a meat cleaver.

"The suspect also warned his parents by saying 'aku katok sat lagi' (I will knock you). It is understood that this is a common occurence (in their household), leading to the suspect's brother lodging a police report," Ahmad Nasir said.

"Further investigation will be conducted after the remand proceeding. Case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code," he added.
