SANDAKAN: A contractor was remanded seven days to assist Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into a false documentation case related to a hostel food tender worth RM2.26 million.
The 28-year-old man was arrested yesterday under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009. He was alleged to have submitted false documents to obtain a tender from Sabah Education Department to supply food at school hostels.
Magistrate’s court registrar Rosmaini Osman granted the order, set to expire on Jan 23, following an application by MACC assistant senior superintendent Shuhaimi Abd Manaf.
He was one of the 25 individuals detained by MACC since early this week over false documentations submitted to the department between 2016 and last year.
On Tuesday, 13 contractors, three of them women, were remanded for three and six days for allegedly submitting false documents to obtain tenders for projects from the department.
The suspects, aged between 30 and 60, were alleged to have obtained tenders, worth up to millions of ringgit, since 2016, using false documents.
