Ex-senior manager remanded 3 days over RM2m bribe

PUTRAJAYA: A former senior manager of a company has been remanded for three days until Friday to facilitate investigation into a bribery case involving RM2 million.

Magistrate Izza Zulaika Ruhanuddin issued the remand order, which was applied by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), to detain the 40-year-old man over the case which is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

The former senior manager was detained at 4.35pm yesterday after he turned up at the MACC headquarters to get his statements recorded.

Sources said initial investigations revealed that the man had allegedly received more than RM2 million worth of kickback from a company for approving credit notes to be used as rebates, incentives and advertisements of computer components to sellers, issued by the said company.

The MACC was also looking for several other persons of interest to facilitate its investigations into the case.
