Setapak orphanage caretaker nabbed over rape, molest of teen girls

KUALA LUMPUR: A caretaker of an orphanage was arrested recently for allegedly raping and molesting four teenage girls at the home in Danau Kota, Setapak.

City Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rusdi Mohd Isa said the suspect, in his 20s, has been remanded for seven days, beginning Friday, to facilitate the investigation.

“We have also recorded statements from several individuals to assist in the probe classified under Section 376 of the Penal Code,” he said when contacted.

Harian Metro today reported that an aunt to a 12-year-old girl, an inmate at the shelter, filed a report with the police after the victim told her of the sexual abuses she suffered in the hands of the suspect, who is also the husband of the orphanage owner.

The aunt, who wanted to be known as Noraishah, 33, said she was informed that the incident started sometime last year.

She said the victim also spoke of three other victims, aged between 13 and 16, who were repeatedly raped and molested by the man.

She added that a medical examination conducted on her niece revealed signs of rape.
