Cops looking for babysitter accused of hurting child

BUTTERWORTH: Police are looking for a babysitter who is accused of hurting a child, aged 1-year and eight months, in Mak Mandin, here, recently.

The girl’s mother lodged a police report after she saw reddish marks on her child’s back on Saturday morning.

She took the girl to Kepala Batas Hospital for treatment when the marks turned black.

Doctors found marks on the child’s elbows and right thigh.

She has been admitted for treatment.

The child is believed to have been hit with a clothes hanger.

It was found that the mother had been sending her and a her 3-year-old sibling to the babysitter since the middle of last month and had been paying RM300 for the service.

There were instances where the child was left with the baby sitter for a few days.

Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor confirmed the incident and said the case was being investigated under Section 31(1) of Child Act 2001.

“We are in the midst of locating the suspect and will make the arrest soon,” he said.
