Beaten for removing members from WhatsApp

SEREMBAN: Upset when two of his friends were removed from a WhatsApp group, a man took to beating up a mosque committee member in Sendayan, here, yesterday.

In the 1.45pm incident, the 61-year-old victim was injured on his face and stomach after being kicked by the 40-year-old man.

A police source said the victim had performed Zohor prayers before he was approached by the man.

"The suspect was said to have been dissatisfied and queried (the victim) over his friends' removal from the WhatsApp group.

"The victim explained that the two were removed because they were constantly posting about the never-ending political controversies. Angry with the reply, the suspect punched the victim's face and kicked him, "he said.

The source added that several members in the congregation who witnessed the incident helped to break the fight.

The victim lodged a report at the Mambau police station, here.

Meanwhile, Seremban Superintendent Deputy Superintendent Mohd Rosli Ishak confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

He said the police did not open investigation papers as the case was resolved amicably by both parties.
