Sabah woman stabs husband to death over abusive, philandering ways

LAHAD DATU: Driven to the brink by her husband’s abusive and philandering ways, a 26-year-old housewife stabbed him in the stomach with a knife as he was sleeping in their home in Bandar Cenderawasih, Sahabat 7, near here, on Friday.

The victim, 32, died of his injuries the next day at Lahad Datu Hospital.

Lahad Datu police chief Assistant Commissioner Nasri Mansor said the victim was sleeping in their rented room at the time of the incident.

“The suspect grabbed a kitchen knife and proceeded to stab him in the right abdomen,” he said.

“The man managed to pull out the knife from his stomach and flee to a nearby clinic.

“The woman, meanwhile, threw the knife out of a window.”

Nasri said a police team had rushed to the location and arrested the suspect upon being alerted to the situation.

“She was hiding in the room. When arrested, she maintained her silence until she was taken to the Cenderawasih police station.”

Nasri said, following questioning, the woman had claimed that her husband had abused her constantly and did not help out financially.

“At the same time, she claimed that her husband had been two-timing her since 2014.

“However, she said she allowed her husband to continue his ways as she feared that her marriage would collapse.

“However, unable to control her emotions any longer, she decided to stab him,” he said.

Nasri said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The suspect has been detained while the suspected murder weapon, a 25-cm knife, was seized.
