Cops to reinvestigate child molestation claims against ex-telco CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will reopen the case involving a telecommunications company CEO who was accused of molesting his daughters.

Federal police sexual, women and children’s investigation division principal assistant director Assistant Commissioner Choo Lily said the case, previously classified as NFA (no further action), would be reviewed thoroughly to obtain a clearer picture on what transpired.

She said her department was previously told that the case could not proceed to the prosecution stage due to lack of evidence.

“The case was shelved temporarily as prosecutors claimed there were not enough statements, which prevented it from proceeding further in court.

“As to why it was explained as thus (not enough statements), I am unsure as I have yet to get the full details of the case.

“Further investigations will be carried out,” she said, adding that she could not comment further on the case as it had been classified as confidential, and there was also a lack of additional information.

She said the case had occurred before she took over the position.

Yesterday, an English daily reported that a former CEO of a telecommunications company was arrested last week after he was alleged to have abused his daughters.

It was claimed that the man was arrested after his ex-wife lodged at least 15 police reports against him since 2015. This was after the couple split up.

The former CEO was arrested at the Hulu Kelang police station last Thursday after he had allegedly trespassed on his ex-wife’s house.
