MUAR: A 53-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing and molesting a minor at a house in Parit Keroma, Jalan Junid, near here, yesterday.
District police chief Assistant commissioner Raiz Mukhlis Azman Aziz said the 17-year-old victim lodged the report against her alleged abuser, who is her mother's boyfriend on Monday.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, was allegedly subjected to physical and sexual abuse while in the company of the suspect, who is her mother's boyfriend," Raiz Mukhlis said.
She claimed the man had also physically abused and molested her during the sexual assault which occurred at the house she shared with her mother, who was away at work during the incident.
The suspect was arrested by a team of detectives from the district criminal investigation department at 8pm near the housing estate.
He was remanded for six days beginning today, to facilitate investigations under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Upon conviction, he may face a maximum 20-year-imprisonment-termed, and canned.
