Company linked to Tengku Adnan received RM2 million cheque from developer

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court was told today that RM2 million was paid to a company linked to Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

A CIMB Bank Bhd Taman Setiawangsa branch assistant manager Khairolrony Kamarudin said Tadmansori Holdings Sdn Bhd received the RM2 million via cheque from developer Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd.

He was testifying at the trial of the former Federal Territories minister charged of receiving RM2 million gratification from developer Tan Sri Chai Kin Kong over a land deal.

Khairolrony, 44, in his witness statement tendered in court said the RM2 million cheque from Hong Leong Islamic Bank was dated June 14, 2016.

He said that the two persons who had opened the Tadmansori Holdings account were Tengku Adnan and Tengku Rethwan Tengku Mansor who acted as directors of the company.

“Based on the form, the company held a current account with the bank. Both Tengku Adnan and Tengku Rethwan signed the account opening application form and I confirm that the client information of the account are Tadmansori Franch ise and Restaurats Sdn Bhd,” he said.

He alsosaid that according to the board of directors resolution, Tengku Adnan was the sole signatory for Tadmansori’s cheques from July 1, 1998, to Jan 21, 2001.

Cross-examined by counsel Datuk Tan Hock Chuan who is leading the defence team for Tengku Adnan on whether the witness knew the purpose of the RM2 million payment, Khairolrony said he had no idea.

Earlier, witness Muhammad Akmaludin Abdullah, 36, who was the assistant registrar of the Companies Commissions of Malaysia (CCM) testified.

Tengku Adnan is charged with accepting RM2 million from Chai whom he knew had connection with his official function via a cheque belonging to Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd which was deposited into a bank account belonging to Tadmansori Holding Sdn Bhd in which he had interest.

He allegedly committed the offence in his capacity as a public servant as the federal territories minister at that time, at CIMB Bank Bhd, Pusat Bandar Damansara branch, level 1, Lot A4, Block A, Pusat Bandar Damansara, here, on June 14, 2016.
