IPOH: A Perak state executive council (exco) member has denied the accusation that he raped his Indonesian maid.
The 49-year-old, in a statement sent to members of the press today, labelled the accusation as slander, stressing that he never committed such an act.
"Let the police investigate accordingly and I will give my full cooperation.
"I believe the police will act professionally and in a transparent manner in the course of this investigation," he said in a statement sent via WhatsApp.
It was reported earlier that the exco member's Indonesian maid had lodged a police report yesterday after she was allegedly raped by the former at his home in Meru, Ipoh.
Bukit Aman Sexual, Women and Children’s Crime Department deputy director-general ACP Choo Lily confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
She said investigation is being carried out under Section 375 of the Penal Code for rape.
