Security guard held for allegedly kissing doctor on KL-KK flight

KOTA KINABALU: A security guard was nabbed by police yesterday after he allegedly kissed a female doctor on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu on Monday.

Police said in the 11pm incident, the 25-year-old man was said to have kissed the doctor on the lips while she was sleeping.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji said the suspect was travelling to Kota Kinabalu to meet his fiancee and was seated next the victim on board.

He said the victim claimed she was awoken from sleep after feeling like someone had kissed her.

"She believed it was the suspect as she saw him turning away his face hurriedly.

"When confronted, she said the man denied it and this led to both of them engaging in a verbal quarrel on the plane," he said.

Habibi said the victim immediately lodged a report at the airport police station upon arrival at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

He said police detained the security guard at 8pm yesterday in the Karamunsing area. He has been remanded to assist the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force to a person with intent to outrage modesty. The offence carries a jail term of up to 10 years or fine or with whipping, upon conviction.
