Kuala Selangor cops seize drugs worth RM676 million, nab 13 suspects

KUALA SELANGOR: Ketamine and cocaine worth a total of RM676 million was seized in a joint operation involving the Customs Department’s narcotics branch and Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department on Sunday.

Four local and nine foreign men were arrested.

Following a tip-off, investigators had raided a premises at the Alam Jaya Commerce Centre in Puncak Alam, here, at about 4.30am.

They found 11 gunny sacks containing white powder, weighing some 500kg, that were suspected to be ketamine.

They were then led by two suspects to a second location in Section U5, Subang Pelangi, Shah Alam, at 9.20pm.

There, the raiding team found 3,230 compressed packs of white powder weighing some 3.23 tonnes that were believed to be cocaine.

Sources said the suspects and the drugs had been sent to the Customs narcotics branch headquarters.

The case is being investigated under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Md Asri A. Wahab confirmed the drug seizure and arrests.

A press conference is expected to be held by the department tomorrow.
