CCTV footage of missing woman with husband, two others shot dead by cops emerges

KUALA LUMPUR: A CCTV recording of a woman reported to be missing after police shot her husband, brother and his friend on Sept 14, has emerged.

The recording showed Moganambal Govindasamy, 35, with her husband, V Janarthanan and two others entering a lift at The Henge condominium in Kepong.

The footage was recorded at 10.33pm on Sept 13, hours before they were killed in a shootout with the police.

Lawyer P Uthayakumar said the CCTV footage was evidence that Moganambal left with her husband and the other two men who were all shot dead by police.

“So, where is she now?” he said when met at the funeral service for Janarthanan and another man killed in the shootout on Sept 14 in Rawang, Selangor.

In the incident, Janarthanan, a Sri Lankan British permanent resident, his brother-in-law Thavaselvan Govindasamy (Moganambal’s brother) and Maghendran Santhirasegaran were shot dead.

Police claimed they refused to stop when they were ordered to pull over at Bandar Country Homes, before a 7km chase ensued, which ended in Batu Arang.

Police said Thavaselvan and Maghendran were wanted for gang-related crimes.

However, while police claimed only three people were at the scene of the shootout, her family maintained that Moganambal was also with the trio that night.

Meanwhile, Moganambal’s sister, G. Vasanthi said the former had shared her location at 1.38am without any message attached.

However, she only noticed the message when she woke up in the morning.

"I don’t know why she sent the location. She could have been in distress and possibly wanted us to know where she was. I tried to contact her in the morning but I couldn't reach her.”

Vasanthi said she then decided to drive to the location and only found the Perodua Alza which had been rented by her sister at the place in Serdang.

She claimed the family had learnt that four unmarked vehicles, including a Proton Preve and a Hilux, were seen at the place when her family members were walking back to their car.

“We were told that my sister and the other three were leaving a restaurant when they were seen being forced into the cars," she said.
