KEPALA BATAS: A bank officer lost over RM12,000 to a bogus Polish pilot in an African Scam recently.
The 31-year-old got to know the man through social media before they started to communicate through WhatsApp since early this month.
He then told her that he had sent a pricey gift to be delivered to her.
Later on, a person claiming to be from a courier company contacted her saying she has to make payments for shipping and other fees to get the item delivered to her.
She made several transactions between Sept 19 and 23 totalling RM12,850 to the account number given by the person.
Realising later that she had been cheated, she lodged a police report.
Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor confirmed the report and said the case was being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
