Police still waiting for AG's instructions on Adib's case

PUTRAJAYA: Police are still waiting for further instructions from the Attorney-General’s (AG) Chambers on their investigations into the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said the AG had yet to give any official orders.

“Once we have it, we will proceed with the investigations and identify the persons responsible for the death of Muhammad Adib,” he said after the launch of the Security and Public Order (DKKA) Policy, here, today.

Last week, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) prosecution and legal division principal assistant director Senior Assistant Commissioner Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said: “Investigations are still ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code, and we will try to find those involved and bring them to court, as directed by the Coroner’s Court.”

He said all witnesses in the inquest would be called back if necessary.

Last week, coroner Rofiah Mohamad had ruled that Adib’s death was a result of a criminal act, committed by two or more unidentified individuals.

Adib died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Dec 17 last year, 21 days after he was critically injured in a riot in front of Sri Maha Mariammam temple, USJ 25, Subang Jaya.

During the inquest proceedings which started in February, 30 witnesses, including several expert witnesses and Adib’s father Mohd Kassim Abdul Hamid, were called to testify and 137 exhibits were submitted.
