Son helps dad run 'family business', both arrested

GEORGE TOWN: Police busted a drug processing laboratory operating out of a terrace house in Aulong, Perak in a raid last month.

Acting state police chief Datuk Roslee Chik said the raid followed the arrest of a man, 51, and his son in Seberang Perai Utara earlier.

“They led the raiding party to another 54-year-old man who produces and supplies them the drugs."

Roslee said police seized 13.2 kilograms (kg) of heroin, 94 grams syabu, 760 ecstasy pills and 2.2kg caffeine along with drug processing apparatus during the raid.

Three vehicles worth RM117,000 and RM2,180 in cash were also seized.

"The total drug seizure is worth RM300,000. The drugs are meant for the local market and enough to be used by 33,650 drug addicts.

"The 51-year-old man is the mastermind for the group and they were active for about one month," he said at a press conference today.

It is learned that the 25-year-old son gave up his job as a salesman in Singapore when his father called him to help with his "business" here.

Roslee added the father had 10 drug-related cases and had been released from jail recently for a drug offence. His son has one drug case and two criminal cases, while the other man has four drug related cases on him.

“The trio were tested positive for drugs.”

They have been remanded until Nov 5 and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
