26 adults, 7 boys charged with disobeying MCO

IPOH: A total of 26 individuals including three women were fined RM1,000 each by the magistrate’s court here today in default of two months’ jail for failing to adhere to the Movement Control Order (MCO).

One of them was also fined RM6,000 in default 10 months’ jail for obstructing civil servants from carrying out their duties.

Meanwhile, a total of seven underage boys aged between 12 and 17 to be released on RM3,000 bail with one surety each, pending Social Welfare Department reports and the court set May 4 for mention.

All of them pleaded guilty when the charges read out separately before magistrate, Mohammad ‘Afifi Mohammad.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Mohd Waffy Ismail prosecuted and the accused were presented by National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) Nor Izawani Ahmad Jalaludin.

The three-hour proceeding was conducted at the High Court here as sanitisation works were being carried out at the Ipoh Session and magistrate's courts.

According to the charge sheets, the accused, aged between 12 and 49, were picked up by the policemen during the Ops Covid-19 at several locations here between March 22 and yesterday.

Among the locations were Lata Ulu Chepor Waterfall and Taman Meru.
