MCO: Family of six goes to supermarket, fined RM6,000

SABAK BERNAM: It was a costly supermarket outing for a family of six here when they were collectively compounded RM6,000 for breaching the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Sabak Bernam district police chief Superintendent Agus Salim Mohd Alias said the family members, aged between 19 and 48, were detained at 12.45pm on Saturday.

“Among the offences committed was going against the order of an enforcement official, entering a supermarket as a group, (and) not practicing social distancing.

“All the individuals were compounded according to Regulation 11 of the Regulations and Control of Infectious Diseases 2020," he said.

Agus Salim said the individuals were given a two-week period from the date of the compound to pay up their fines.

He also urged the public to adhere to the MCO, adding that police will not hesitate to take severe action against flouters of the order which was enforced to stem the spread of Covid-19.
