KUALA LUMPUR: A newborn baby girl was discovered in a carton for mineral water bottles at the Jalan Kabus-Jalan Bintang intersection in Ampang, yesterday.
Police were alerted to the discovery at 7am.
"No document or belongings were found with the baby.
"She was taken to Ampang Hospital for examination. It was determined that the baby, weighing 2.8kg, was born full term and within the last 24 hours," said Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Azmi Yusoff.
He urged members of the public with information on the case to contact investigating officer Inspector Zanariah at 018-9604202, or proceed to any police station.
Noor Azmi added that the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for child abandonment. – Bernama
